Just 1411 left.

Just 1411 left.

Our national animal is fighting for its life.

From around 40,000 at the turn of the last century, there are just 1411 tigers left in India.

If we don’t act now, we could lose this part of our heritage forever.

Speak up, blog, share the concern, stay informed… Every little bit helps.

I also agree with Vidhi. This website is a very good media to make the us aware of Tigers, no doubt about it. But emphasis should be given to the remote areas also where people do not thease at all. I think DoorDarshan, local Newspapers will be a good media to spread this serious issue.

Please save those 2 tigers who have left Ranthambhore park and are moving into the hands of poachers.

A big thing to worry because our national emblem is at stake just 1411 tigers left. Its the duty of every Indian to save the emblem , the pride of the nation The Tigers.Every Indian should stand up and support this cause. This is a very serious issue and every individual effort can save our innocent tiger who are mercilessly killed.According to me this news should be widely spread though various communication channels. The main thing is to make the people aware about the decreasing number of tiger day by day.

So friends lets come together and do whatever it takes to save our pride……………………..

  4. hello people of india, its nice to see that some people are really serious about this. but i cannot handle that my national animal is being killed for poaching and for medical uses and this is not all, people are also capturing the tigers and exporting to various countries just for money. this so ridiculous and some people think we should make community on various sites which can really help! i am just 16 yrs. old and i would like campaigns to held for this and save our national animal.

  5. NADEEMULHAQ says:

we should think together. The Govt should increase the penalty of hunting tiger upto 50 LAKH RS / Person

SHOCKING! is’nt it? It is an irony that in our country, what is declared as a national treasure, the more endangered it becomes. The reason, we all know but try to shut our eyes. But as now the number of the Tiger has depleted to an alarming preposition, it is the duty of every Indian to have concern in the matter and contribute in their own way, small as it may be, to save our National Animal. Hats-off to AIR CELL for starting the movement and to publicise this thought in the e-media.

I just don’t no why people are still not aware of protecting wild animals. Leave the protection, they even do not know what r their rights, responbilities being as a citizen of India. Everyone thinks about their own growth but nvr abt wild animals. But i am sure one day all the people including me r gonna face consequences of deforestation, decrease in no of wild animals which are main part of food chain and also help us protect d environment .
From my native place just 45 kms away, Dandeli- Anashi Tiger reserve is there which has been established in 2007. Leave the sighting of tigers here but if u sight a even a cheetal or bison then you are very very lucky which makes so much embarrassment that how much animals we are loosing day by day. So please try to protect the tigers which are pride of our nation.

Hey ya all! I am from alwar where the Sariska Wildlife Sanctuary is located. It’s a place I’ve been visiting since my chilhood days. It is my home. Tiger is my favorite animal. Why….?? Weird question! Some like dogs, some like birds, some like cats…..Others (read I) like the bigger cats i.e. the TIGER. It’s beautiful when it plays like a kid, ferocious when it preys to feed its starving stomach (Oh! by d way it eats as per its hunger & leaves d rest for scavangers), innocent when it sleeps….. But I find it heart-wrenching when I see each one of them die not its natural death but untimely (or perhaps timely planned) death. I thought people living in villages surrounding such sanctuaries would care enough to stand against the poachers. Perhaps many people like me do care. But I blame those local people who lend a helping hand to the poachers. I blame the corrupt forest officials who till today are conspiring and conniving with the poachers. I blame the government which succumbs to the exorbitant expenditures incurred at a politician’s birthday party but doesn’t count the endangered species as a priority. And then one day every one wakes up and cries for help to help my endangered pets. Well Well Well…..!! Now that every one has woken up, let me give the final warning. IF NOT NOW, THEN NEVER.

The big cat is crying for help to ensure the survival of not only its own progeny but also of our’s. Come on! We’ve read it in our science books that carnivores are an indispensible part of the food cycle. That’s elementary my dear Watsons!! I would like to urge every citizen to extend their support to this noble cause- SAVE OUR TIGERS. Don’t worry…the GOVERNMENT has woken up to the SHAMELESS FIGURE-1411. I urge the educated & sensible FOREST OFFICIALS to exercise their POWERS and LEADERSHIP skills. I urge the educated and the uneducated YOUTH in the villages to stop the greedy local people from extending their help to the local people. The Chipko movement is a fact, not a fiction. I urge the CELEBRITIES (Shahid Kapoor- a vegetarian, John Abraham- People for Ethical Treatment of Animals, Akshy Kumar- Sher-e-Punjab, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan-Jahan aap khade hote hain, line wahin se shuru hoti hai), INDUSTRIALISTS (Tatas, Bajajs-Corporate Social Responsibility), POLITICIANS (Mr. Scindia, Mr. Sachin Pilot, Mr. Deora), JOURNALISTS (Barkha Dutt-you’ve showed light to many cases through candle light marches) to kindly donate enough money & time to promote and successfully execute this campaign. Come on, Let’s make it happen!

It is possible. Please save my pet and our NATIONAL ANIMAL!!

If you are still reluctant….then go watch the video of the innocent, scared tiger cub!

If your heart still doesn’t melt….watch the extinction of the tigers….the carnivores…the herbivores….the omnivores…..the HOMO SAPIENS-that’s YOU if I may remind you!! The process will be very very gradual….you won’t even get to know!

    Dear All,

I have been putting down my signatures in order to protect tigers eversince i was in school. almost every bookfare that i attended in kolkata i used to see a representatives running after people in order to get a piece of paper signed inorder to protect tigers. some of the people who signed had no idea what it was for, few just signed inorder to get rid of the representatives as soon as possible and the rest which was in minor did understand what there signature ment to the tigers. My appeal is to all those people who understands the value of there signatures inrespect to the lives of the innosent tigers, Its time now to join hands and start another CHIPKO movement…. its time now to start THE STRIPE movement. we have to come out of our nice nature and take a drastic step, a more firm step, to help the innocent tigers. To have to protect them by hook or by crook. People like S—— C——- have made a lot of money by killing innocent animals. We have to request our government to help bring justice to the orphand tigers. We have received our freedom and we take great pleasure in celebrating it every year…but the tigers are not free yet. My request to the government is “Please give the remaining 1411 tigers there freedom.” If we (government and common people) do not help the striped creatures now it will be history and our kids will only know the word “T for TIGER”

  11. sneha says:

It’s genuinely a matter of concern that tigers are extincting.Tiger is our national animal.Like today we can only talk about Dinosaurs can watch their movies but we cannot actually witness them, if we Indians do not take a step a step to SAVE TIGERS then a time will come that the upcoming generation will only learn about them in books, movies they will be unable to witness them. Last year in Bhopal, many tigers had been shifted one by one at VAN VIHAR but none of them were able to exist for more than 2 months.Tigers is our national treasure. It’s a shameful thing that from 40,000 tigers only 1411 left.Tigers should not be put in a zoo or in a cage, they should be provided an open atmosphere, proper nutrition so that they also become everlasting like humankinds.

  12. Aniruddha says:

Hey bloggers, salute to all of you, true Indians. i live in Kolkata i.e. close to Sunderbans…all the news of tigers in distress from clashes with human community comes to us about every week…government havn’t got enough manpowr or zealous officials to take care of this situation…we the People r the last straw of hope for this helpless big cats. We need to mix among those village communities and teach them to live as part of the environment/eco-system, not as rulers of Nature. Can this blog help us, d aware n educated People in getting coordinated nd reach the concerned locations to spread awareness nd show the villagers the path to follow. i blieve we, the People hv gt it in us…inpossible is NOTHING :)

  14. joshna says:

I am Joshna and This is very sad to her that only few tigers are left , how we have rights to live in this world even the animals have the equal rights , then why this is happening , govt should take serious action regarding this because wildlife is very important , even they have to enjoy the nature as we do , yes i agree that rather than sitting here and writing blogs and discussions wont help the wild life , we have to take a serious action and need to talk to the govt so that how can we prevent and how we can give security to these poor animals , it is very heart touching that a cub is waiting for her mother to return , so plz i request everybody to join this movement and lets us give the better wild life to our future genration , so that only stories should not be there about the national animal

  17. disha says:

tigers are being poached recklessly for their skin nails etc, that are used in chinese medicine…this has resulted in poachers filling their pockets by killing our national animal…we must first take strict action against this killing and bring about laws to govern this…tigers are the pride of our nation..if tigers die the number of predators in the wild reduces and thus number of herbivores increases causing an imbalance in the food chain…tigers are needed to maintain this balance, they save our greenery n help bring rains..rains which water our fields and help us get our food..nature is interlinked so beautifully, one thing missing can cause too much damage…stop this damage and take quick and strict action…..SAVE OUR TIGERS …..SPREAD THE ROAR…SAVE OUR STRIPES..

  19. pushkal says:

talking wont help much…………something needs to be done about the matter…………….govt should be forced nd ngos should be helped……………….i hve also seen many tigers in zoo. they should be released; cause their conditions in zoo is much worse…..a large scale movement is required for it.

  20. pankaj bedi says:

    Well said Vidhi G.

We people are not the ones who kill, very truly said that the message should reach those who kill, but unfortunately they are not aware of this initiative and support of ours.

The roar to save tigers should reach those who are real culprits. Internet is insufficient, widely used public platforms like national tv and radio channels should be used. Folk dances and songs will certainly play important role in putting the meassage across.

  21. Ishaan Vohra says:

even if we take 250 male and 250 female tigers, and not kill them, instead, protect them, they could actually reproduce and then in a few years, we could have more than 50 tigers with them….

    I’M JUST 9+. Just 9+. but then i thought that “yes… this could make a difference…”

I’M PROUD TO BE AN INDIAN AND WOULD NOT let my national animal get ixtint…

  22. navjot says:

i am xtremely sad to know the decline in tiger population in our country…i would like to do my part with utmost sincerity to save this beautiful creature of god…i am 17yrs old….can anyone let me know how i can fulfil my part at our level..???

  23. AFAQUE SIDDIQUI, says:

hI, Eevery one first I want to thanks AIRCELL who came forword to this project spreading over the people & I m sure this add will give more successful results to our national animal, through this channel i just shout save our “Tiger” niether their existent wil lost like Dinosours. This planet give us very beutiful animal and our duty is to save their life….Thanking you.

  24. Shubhakar says:

Well I do agree that these messages are not going to help to increase tigers population or saving them, then why are we trying these methods.

Bcoz these methods help us to increase awareness among people, if any one knows who is encouraging of hunting of animals, they might get inspired of our trials of saving a species and they can intimate any public service officers or forest departments before this happens, also from now you may show interest in such cases held to court, your support may help the judge take decision and sentence a harsh punishment which might be a lesson for people who wish to attempt these kind of things.

I do agree that there is a change that nothing might happen as well, but we keep faith on our GOVT for this part at-least because this is regarding our NATIONAL ANIMAL and we are proud of it. Hopefully this might help saving a species.

As you guys have described are you guys really serious to join and help forest department in saving tigers, taking a leave from your regular duties ?? If you people are serious about this we may take this to higher level regarding the voluntary services .

    Thank you all.

  25. we can save tigers by standing up
waking up and make others too
    stop the dirty corruption
announce a war against corrupted forest officials

  26. Sandeep Gupta says:

Its not only the responsibility of the govt to save our tigers but its the responsibility of each n every indian.

Its not the tym to blame anybody, its the tym to do something to save our tigers. So come lets join hands together!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  27. navpreet says:

everything that takes birht on earth, shall live. We are no one to judge who should live and who shudn’t. Therefore, killing and poaching of tirgers should stop from this moment on. i am 14 years old and would like to know what can i do on my part. I thank AIRCELL for taking such an important initiative.1411 left. its not about that tiger is our national animal but its about that it is a living creature , a creation of god , which has a complete liberty to live, and that now it is perishing and sooner will be extinct if not taken care.

Its my APPEAL to Government Of India(GOI) to please prevent further poaching and killing of tigers as well as other endangered ones BECAUSE if any of its policies would have worked , we would not have faced this day then, i hope AIRCELL will take my appeal to GOI.

  28. Indrashish Das says:

We all some or the other way believe in GOD and respect HIM a lot. So why are we not stepping up to save HIS creation? It’s high time now. From the days of Adam and Eve the world has changed a lot. As day has passed we selfish humans have destroyed the nature for our benefit hampering the beauty of HIS creation. Similarly “TIGERS” are one of the beauties GOD has created in the same way as HE has created us (Humans). NATURES beauty is one of the greatest gifts GOD has given us and hence it is our responsibility to SAVE her GIFT from getting destroyed. BUT if her creation goes on decreasing day by day then a day will come when HIS creation will vanish like a drop of SPIRIT.

Today, the life of our very own “TIGERS” is in real danger. They are on the verge of getting extinct. In proportion to 100 crore human population in India, there are only 1411 Tigers left in India which is very less as compared to our population. This is really alarming.

If this goes on then someday this 1411 will become “0”. So, please Save Them coz some day this 100 crore human population can also come down to Zero and hence, it is our duty to save the nature and HIS creation.

Its my request to all the people of India to Join hands to save them.
